The Clippers made a terrific choice by choosing Eric Gordon in the draft. He led all scorers yesterday with 23 points.
The Memphis Grizzlies beat the New Orleans Hornets 88-75 in a summer league game on Friday.
Grizzlies rookies Darrell Arthur and O.J. Mayo shined in the game, and Memphis should look forward to adding them to their roster. Arthur finished with 18 points, Mayo had 15 {and 5 assists}, and sophomore Mike Conley had 14.
Maybe the Grizz won't be as bad as everyone thinks.
It is only the summer league, though. Hmmm...
3 year dude Hilton Armstrong led the Hornets with 13 points, and sophomor! e Julian Wright had 12 points and 5 rebounds.
In other games, the summer league Detroit Pistons beat the summer league Los Angeles Lakers 84-73.
Rodney Stuckey led Detroit with 21 points. He had 9 in the first quarter and 11 at the end of the first half. Fellow sophomore Arron Afflalo added 15 points and 3 rebounds, and former BYU Cougar Trent Plaisted had 10, including a sweet fastbreak dunk and a couple of tip-ins.
Coby Karl led the Lakers with 14 points.
Also, Eric Gordon had 23 and 7 rebounds and Al Thornton had 20 to lead the L.A. Clippers to a 86-69 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
The Clippers had a pretty big lead at the start, and they just piled on and crushed the Mavericks. Both Gordon and Thornton had 11 in the first half.
Former Clipper James Singleton had 9 points in the first quarter for Dallas and finished with 13. 2007 Dunk Champion Gerald Green had! 12 for the Mavs.
